Careless Driving Law In Force Today
A new law comes into force, covering death by careless driving, though Direct Line are asking for a review since the laws are different for those with and without car insurance.
A driver with car insurance can face a jail sentence of up to five years for the offence of death by careless driving, though someone not insured, disqualified from driving or with no licence will only face a sentence of up to two years. This seems a little odd said a Direct Line spokesman.
The spokesman from Direct Line also went on to say that there should be a review of the matter as early as possible since the law is supposed to be fair for all members of society.
