Cycle Theft Warning
Bicycle owners are being asked by Sainsburys Bank to make sure they keep their bikes secure, even when they are at home, to avoid becoming victims of theft.
Figures from Sainsburys Bank show over twelve hundred bicycle thefts take place each day, not all of them while bicycles are left unattended on the street. The market for bicycles is pretty big which explains why thieves target them so it is up to the bike owners to make sure they keep them secure even at home.
Keeping a bike in a locked shed or garage is normally sufficient to keep them safe, though applying a lock as well could reduce the chance of theft even more. Sainsburys Bank are also asking people to check that their home insurance policy has cover for bikes included and to understand any exclusions there may be.
