Regular Tyre Checks Important

Well known vehicle breakdown company the RAC is reminding drivers that it is important to check both the condition and pressure of their tyres regularly.

A recent RAC review found a little under half those asked were unaware what the legal minimum tread depth was, this rising to around sixty percent for female drivers. The answer for those wishing to know is 1.6mm by the way. They also found that tyres are almost forgotten about by many drivers, when really they should be examined regularly.

Just spending a minute or so looking at the tyres for damage and wear can save lives say the RAC and urge all drivers to think about this the next time they go to their car. Correct tyre pressures, as well as making the car handle properly, can also improve fuel economy, meaning it can save money as well.
