Uninsured drivers run the risk of getting caught and prosecuted if they do not take out a car insurance policy quickly warns the Motor Insurers Bureau.

At present in the UK there are approximately 1.7 million drivers who are uninsured.

If you do not renew your current car insurance policy because you have money troubles then it could run you into further hot water.

Motorist that are driving without insurance will get caught and face having their car taken off them and receiving a fine, if they choose not to drive without any insurance.

In 2008, there were 232,000 prosecutions of uninsured drivers according to the MIB.
